NASSAU COUNTY COUNCILOR’S REPORT

  1. As part of Black History Month, the Nassau County Medical Society will interview Dr. Said Ibrahim, Senior Vice President of Medicine at Northwell Health. The interview will be conducted by Michael Osei, one of our Medical Student Members. All of our media platforms will be used to publish the interview, and our membership will be notified.
  2. The Nassau County Medical Society attended the LIJ Medical Staff Society Gala on February 11, 2023. We were able to reconnect with our peers and reaffirm our partnership.
  3. On February 15, 2023, the Nassau County Medical Society hosted our monthly webinar. The program was presented by the law firm that represents our Society and Academy, Ruskin, Moscou and Faltischek, P.C. The topic was “2023 Employment Law Update: What Medical Practices Need to Know”. The program will be made available on-demand on our website and YouTube channel.
  4. For the month of March, and in honor of Women’s History Month, our Member of the Month, will be Dr. Michelle Loftus, an Internist from Manhasset and the Treasurer of the NSUH Medical Staff Society. Her video will be posted in the coming weeks.
  5. In support of our Northwell partnership, the Nassau County Medical Society, with approval from MSSNY, has started creating videos to highlight the member benefits the state and the county have to offer. These are our first two video/flyers: BENEFITS VIDEOS
  6. On February 23, 2023 at 6pm the Nassau Academy of Medicine will be hosting its first CME program for 2023. The topic is “ The Humanistic Learning Environment: From Safe to Brave Spaces”. This is the first part of a four part series.
  7. On March 7, 2023 the Nassau County Medical Society will be hosting its second annual Pre-Advocacy Day Workshop for our Medical Students. This program is being presented in partnership with NYIT and is open to all medical students in our county. The goal is to engage our medical students and make them more comfortable in advocating for their future profession.
  8. On March 9, 2023 at 5pm our Public Health Committee will be hosting its quarterly meeting. The Nassau Health Commissioner will be joining us.
  9. The Nassau County Medical Society and the Nassau Academy of Medicine will be partnering with the American Heart Association for a program to promote CPR education in the community. The goal is to present to a variety of groups such as schools, libraries, etc.
  10. Our Spring Membership Meeting will be taking place on May 16, 2023 at The Mansion in Oyster Bay and our keynote speaker will be Dr. Mike Varshavski (Doctor Mike – Official Website (doctormikemedia.com)
