In an opinion piece in the USA Today Network, Medical Society of the State of New York President Dr. Jerome Cohen calls on federal lawmakers to reverse course on cutting Medicare reimbursement rates, writing that the “latest proposal to slash Medicare physician payments could be the last straw” for financially struggling physician practices. Faced with inflation and physician shortages, Cohen argues that “now is the time to protect patient access and ensure the survival of medical practices across New York and the country. It is not merely about reversing these cuts; it is about crafting a comprehensive, permanent solution to ensure the Medicare system is stable for many years to come.”
