MSSNY Speaks Out on Wrongful Death Legislation
MSSNY continues to voice opposition to pending Wrongful Death legislation in letters to the editor and op-eds in multiple New York newspapers. MSSNY President Dr. Paul A. Pipia’s letter to the editor in the NY Daily News stated, “The staggering increases in the cost of delivering care would almost certainly drive many physicians to leave the state or retire early, leaving many patients without the care they need, especially in underserved areas.”
MSSNY’s Dr. Jacob Moalem and Dr. Anthony Vine expressed similar concerns in a Syracuse.com opinion piece Liability law will be disaster for NY healthcare. Drs Moalem and Vine “encourage the bill sponsors to work collaboratively with our physician community to formulate a bill that properly compensates the families of the deceased, while reducing unintended consequences and protecting the healthcare system.
